Glutathione Reductase (GR) mediates the GSH redox cycle that keep the normal levels of reduced GSH. It catalyzes the NADPH-dependent reduction of oxidized glutathione (GSSG) to reduced glutathione (GSH). High GSH/GSSG ratio protects cell from oxidative damage. The Glutathione Reductase Activity Colorimetric Assay Kit provides an easy and sensitive way of detecting GR activity in biological samples. GR reduces GSSG to GSH, which reacts with 5, 5′-Dithiobis (2-nitrobenzoic acid) (DTNB) to generate TNB2- (yellow color, λmax = 405 nm). The detection limit is 0.1-40 mU/mL.
